Obituary
Mr. P. A. Mathre

Funeral services for Mr. P. A. Mathre, 71, of Ames were held Saturday afternoon at the Bethesda Lutheran church with Rev. Joseph L. Knutson officiating.

Peter Anders Mathre, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anders S. Mathre, was born in Nettlecreek, Ill., Dec. 14, 1873, and passed away at his home July 4, 1945, after an illness of five months.

Mr. Mathre was engaged in the hardware and implement business in Stanhope, Ia., for 16 years. They moved to Ames in 1914 where he was in the implement business for a number of years.

He was a man of high ideals and stood for the best in everything. He was known to relatives, friends, and neighbors as a devoted husband, a home lover and a friend to everyone. He was very patient and during his severe illness and suffering he never complained but was grateful for all things done for him, especially the untiring and loving care given by his wife.

Funeral services were held in the Bethesda Lutheran church, of which he was a member. "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Face to Face" were sung by Mr. and Mrs. Otis Boyd of Roland as requested by Mr. Mathre. He had also requested his nephews, Anders and Clarence Hove, Floyd, Edgar, Severt and Charles Crim to be bearers.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife, two sons, Severt A. and J. Elmer, eight grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. J. B. Crim of Boone and Mrs. Chas. Hove of Story City, and one brother, H. Lew Mathre of Davis Junction, Ill., besides a host of friends.
