MRS. E. F. BELL CALLED TO THE GREAT BEYOND
This community was greatly shocked last Monday morning when the news came that Mrs. E. F. Bell had passed away at the hour of four that morning. the latest that most people knew of her was when she returned from the sanitarium at Nevada, about two weeks ago that she was somewhat improved in health, and her large number of friends were hoping and eagerly looking forward to a much improved condition.
Mrs. Bell was 62 years old at the time of her death. She was married to E. F. Bell, March 22, 1876, at Nevada, Ia. To this union six children were born. They resided at Nevada for ten years where three children were born, Edith, Bertha and Josie, and while living there Edith died, April 30, 1881. They moved to Scranton from Nevada and while living there Faye and Gladys were born. In the year 1890 they moved onto the farm known as the John Michaelson homestead, southwest of town, where they have lived ever since. Floyd was born here.
Mrs. Bell was always of a very cheerful mood, always glad and willing to lend a helping hand and after a busy and useful life, she died as she had lived honored and trusted and loved by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. But she has left us and today the autumn leaves fall upon another grave that hides from our sight all that is mortal of a true and noble woman. Our little city and its hospitable people ever held a warm feeling in her heart. No one ever entered her home without a warm welcome nor ever left without feeling the warmth of a genuine hospitality which we all know is so characteristic of the people of her ancestry. Even her sickness did not destroy that charm of her kind and loving disposition nor, as she was getting older, did she diminish from her unselfish solicitude for her friends and dear ones.
She leaves to mourn her loss, besides her husband, her children Mrs. Martin Hegland of Roseau, Minn., Mrs. E. P. Jondall of Roland, Mrs. Obed Sandven of Nevada, Mrs. Faye Bell Wilson and Floyd Bell of Roland.
The funeral services were conducted from the home today, Rev. Sandven officiating. Interment was made in the Roland cemetery.
