COLO CHRONICLES

Obituary.

Mattie Myrtle Lounsbury, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lounsbury, died August 30th, at the family home near Colo, Iowa, aged 18 years, 8 months and three days. She was the eldest of a family of six, loving, amiable, accomplished and thoughtful of others. At the Nevada high school and the Story county normal she had recently been preparing for wider usefulness, she was soon to part from probation to membership in the Methodist church, and life was at its sunniest. In seeming vigor she became the victim of malignant diphtheria, and in five days was gone. Heavenly visions glorified her closing hours, exalted her above sufferings and leaving loving messages for her companions, she closed a beautiful life. The funeral was necessarily private, but skillful hands, expressing the sympathy of kindly hearts, softened all they could the harshness of the trial in the Lounsbury home. Happily, its inmates sorrow not as those without hope.
