COLO CHRONICLES

Wm. O. Schmeltzer, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Schmeltzer, died on Sabbath last at the home of his parents in this city. He was deputy postmaster under his father, winning the good will of the people in general by his kind and obliging manners. After the office was turned over to Mr. Hardinbrook, he went to Illinois to learn telegraphy with his uncle, John Schmeltzer, but his health failed, and he came home. He grew rapidly worse and was soon bedfast. His trouble was the consumption of the bowels. A funeral service was held at the house on Monday at 4 p. m. conducted by Rev. Ferguson assisted by Revs. McVicker, Bentley and Lint. Mr. and Mrs. Schmeltzer left on the evening train with the remains for Dakota, Ill., where they will be buried in the family burying ground. Willie was their only child, and much sympathy is felt for them in their sore bereavement.
