Henry Chitty, 71, Dies Early Today

Henry F. Chitty, 817 13th St., died at 3:10 a.m. today at the Story County Hospital, where he had been a patient since Wednesday. He was 71 years of age and had been in ill health the past several months.

Chitty was born Oct. 28, 1889, near Fernald, the son of James and Belle Chitty. He was a retired farmer and had lived in Story and Marshall Counties his entire lifetime.

He was married to Ethel Cook, Nov. 23, 1910 at Colo. He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church, where he was a member.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel, at home, two daughters, Mrs. Harry (Wilma) Sutherland, Mrs. Leo (Henrietta) Sutherland, both of Nevada, one brother, Ray of Fernald, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. The body will remain at the Ryan Funeral Home until time of funeral services which will be held at the Central Presbyterian Church, Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Frank Hladky officiating. Burial will be in the Colo cemetery.

A memorial fund is being established.
