From Nevada Representative February 1, 1888

We publish elsewhere in this issue memorial resolution concerning the death of James Fitzwaters. He had no relatives in this section and very little is known of his life antecedent to his coming to the county five or six years ago. He bore a good name among those who knew him. During his sickness that ended in death lat Saturday and which was a several weeks duration, he was kindly cared for by our local lodges of Good Templars and Odd Fellows. His funeral was held at the M. E. church Sunday afternoon, Revs. Ferguson and Reid conducting the services, the orders above named having general charge.

Further down in the column of this issue of the paper:

In Memoriam.

WHEREAS, God in his infinite wisdom has seen fit to call home our brother, James Fitzwaters, and,

WHEREAS, The above was a faithful, consistent member of New Hope Lodge No. 140 I. O. G. T. therefore,

Resolved, That, in the loss of our well beloved brother, we have lost a true Templar and an earnest worker; but that we humbly bow to the will of Him "who doeth all things well."

2d, That, in token of our loss, the usual emblems of mourning be displayed in our lodge room for thirty days.

3d, That a copy of these resolutions be submitted to the papers of this city for publication.

Resolved, That by said dispensation our Lodge has lost a new member, and from indications a brother who would have become attached to the principles of our beloved order, and have made a good working member; that we extend to the mother and relatives wherever they may be, our sympathy and condolences.

That when the whereabouts of the mother shall be learned, a copy of this resolution shall be forwarded to her that this resolution be spread upon the records of this Lodge.
