From Nevada Representative August 5, 1885
Lizzie E. Boyes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Boyes, died at the home of her parents Sunday morning August 2d, aged 17 years 4 months and 7 days.
The deceased was born in Howard township March 6, 1868 and lived there until her father's election, nearly five years ago, to the office of county recorder. Since that time and until the beginning of her illness she had lived in Nevada an during school time, has attended the Nevada schools. She was a bright and ambitious scholar and in another year would have finished the high school course, indeed her over work in school, together with her rapid growth, tended not a little to induce her illness. She was taken sick February 13th, with rheumatism, which was subsequently aggravated by paralysis on the left side and other ills. She seemed better at times, but had periodic relapses each of which took her lower than its predecessor. She held out wonderfully, but finally yielded to the constant and long continued sapping of strength and vital forces.
The funeral was held at the house Monday afternoon, the services being conducted by Prof. Wynn and there being a large attendance of people from both town and country. The pall bearers were taken from the young ladies of Miss Lizzie's class in the high school. Classmates, school mates, relatives and friends sorrowfully followed the hearse to the cemetery and watched the consignment of the body to the grave, and sympathy was everywhere for the parents to whom the loss, though long foreseen, was none the easier to bear.
The following Resolutions of Respect were adopted by her classmates,

Resolved: That these resolutions be published and a copy be given the family of the deceased.
