Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Ronald Charles Eagan (“Chuck”) was born on February 8, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois. He was the second of two sons born to William and Eleanor (Duske) Eagan.

Ron grew up in Jackson, Michigan with his parents and his brother, Bill. He attended Jackson High School where he participated in a variety of activities including tennis, cross-country, football and basketball. He was voted the most sincere person by his graduating class of over 800 students.

In August 1961, he met his future wife, Karen Kay (Brungardt) Eagan, while he was working in Lincoln, Nebraska. They were married on May 26, 1962. Through this union, they were blessed with three sons; Jeff, Chris, and Mike.

During his life he held many occupational roles. He served as an electrician in the Air Force. After his service in the military, he graduated from physical therapy school in Columbia, Missouri. He acted as the director of physical therapy for Mary Greeley Hospital before he ran his own practice for 15 years. He dedicated 37 years of his life to caring for his patients in Ames, Story City, Marshalltown, Nevada, and Mt. Pleasant. After retiring from physical therapy, he got his real estate license and worked for Friedrich Iowa Realty.

Ron’s family was always his first priority. He was an incredible husband and father. As a husband, he shared 50 years of wonderful marriage to Karen. As a father to his three sons, he was actively involved in breaking up wrestling matches, participating in athletic endeavors, and making sure his kids always had what they needed.

Ron had a number of hobbies during his life. He thoroughly enjoyed attending the sporting events and extracurricular activities of his children and grandchildren. A few of his favorite athletic teams included the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Iowa State Cyclones, and the Green Bay Packers. During their marriage, Ron became an avid lover of Karen’s famous roasts, spaghetti, and tastees. With Karen, his family, and friends he enjoyed going to bingo, fishing with his boys, going out to eat and on trips.

On March 27, 2015, Ron passed away peacefully in the arms of God and his family at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, IA.

Ron is survived by his three sons, Jeff and his wife Jane Eagan, of Ames, Chris Eagan, of Cedar Falls and Mike and his wife Jamie Eagan, of Ankeny; his brother, William and his wife Muriel Eagan, of Ft. Wayne, IN; his sister-in-law, Marilyn Shanks and her husband Stan Byers, of Council Bluffs; his six grandchildren, Tyler and Haley Eagan, of Ames, Alison and Olivia Eagan, of Cedar Falls and Jacob and Brady Eagan, of Ankeny; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and his father-in-law, Henry Brungardt.

Ron’s faith and caring nature guided the way he lived his life. He was generous, selfless, helpful, compassionate, and loving. He had an infectious personality that was bigger than his physical presence. God blessed us with a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son.

We will love you always, remember you forever and will see you down the road.

Memorials can be made to MGMC Foundation, for cancer related care, 1111 Duff Ave., Ames, IA 50010.
