Roger Alan Mather was born November 8, 1931 to Lawrence and Dorothy (McLaughlin) Mather in Ames, Iowa. He graduated from Ames High School in 1949. On June 2, 1951, Roger married Norma Evans. He worked for Allen Motors prior to joining the United States Army. Roger served his country from October 21, 1951 until October 22, 1953. After his time in the military, Roger farmed in the Collins and Colo area, until October of 1959, when he went to work for John Deere Des Moines Works. Roger was a general supervisor when he retired in 1986.

Roger had a great sense of humor and was quite the prankster. He enjoyed sprint car racing, sports and was a true animal lover.

Roger passed away at 83 years of age on March 27, 2015 at his home in Ames.

Roger is survived by his wife, Norma, of Ames; one daughter, Marilee (Patrick) Cayo, of Loveland, CO; two sons, Mark (Cathy) Mather, of Ames and Brett (Angie) Mather, of Ankeny; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Audrey (Denny) Morton, of Norco, CA; and several nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Rodney Mather; two brothers, Richard and Hugh Mather; and one sister, Mary Carol.
