Milton "Milt" J. Severson was born on April 17, 1928 to Harvey and Alice (Hegland) Severson in Kanawha, Iowa. He was an Army veteran and served in the Korean Conflict and was a graduate of Iowa State University. Milt married Gloria Naser on August 7, 1954. He worked in sales as a territory manager for Kent Feeds. He had lived in Story City since 1970 and was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church, serving as deacon, trustee and usher, and was a member of the Story City American Legion. Milt volunteered for ten years at the Roland Story Elementary School and mowed grass at the Story City Golf Course. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and Iowa State University athletic events. Milt loved his family very much.
Milt died at 86 years of age on February 6, 2015 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
Milt is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gloria Severson, of Story City; his son, Bob (Kim) Severson, of Randall; his daughter, Mary (Steve) Peterson, of Story City; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers, Gordon (Dolores) Severson, of Luther, Eugene (Isabelle) Severson, of Belle Plaine, Richard (Kay) Severson, of Sarasota, Florida and Roger (Jan) Severson, of Hubbard; and his sister, Marlene (Paul) Smith, of Britt.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Jerry Severson.
