June 5, 1928, to June 16, 2002
Donna N. Sayers, 74, of Nevada, died of lung cancer on Sunday, June 16, at her home.
She was born June 5, 1928, in Colo, to John O. and Mary A. (Cooper) Dawson. She was a 1945 graduate of Colo High School and married Raymond L. Scott on Dec. 23, 1946, in Des Moines. They divorced in 1963, and she married Homer D. Sayers on June 5, 1964, in Branson, Mo. She was an abstractor for Batman-Sayers Abstract Co. from 1961 to 1974 and Story County Abstract from 1975 to 1987. She retired in 1996 as a secretary for the Dayton Countryman Law Office. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a past Worthy Matron for the Nevada Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting and bird watching.
Survivors include three daughters, Christine Lilly of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Linda Freeman of Roland and Cathy Koch of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Smith of Nevada.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer, on July 7, 1987; an infant son, John Dawson Scott on Feb. 4, 1961; and two sisters, Dorene Hemping and Doris Staker.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 19, at First United Methodist Church in Nevada with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Colo Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, handled arrangements.
