Sept. 27, 1936 to Dec. 15, 2002

Jerry Jon Brodie, 66, of Nevada, died of congestive hear failure on Sunday, Dec. 15, at his home in Nevada.

He was born Sept. 27, 1936, in Nevada to John R. and Edna Pearl (French) Brodie. A lifelong resident of Nevada, he was a 1955 graduate of Nevada High School. He married Nancy Ann Auten on July 19, 1957 in Ft. Dodge. He was employed by John Deere Works in Ankeny. he was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy, of Nevada; a son, Jerry Jon Brodie II of Nevada; a daughter, Catherine Margaret Brodie (and Ryan) Kahler, of Moravia; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; a sister Joyce Leonard of Grundy Center; and a brother, Steven Brodie on Nevada.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held today (Dec. 19) at 2 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church with Pastor Scott Milson officiating. Burial followed at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada handled arrangements.
