Barbara Jean Taylor
May 5, 1925 to Aug. 24, 1998

Barbara Jean Taylor, 73, of Nevada died of heart failure on Monday, Aug. 24, at her home.

She was born May 5, 1925, in Ames to Clifford and Rose (Gors) Thompson. She was an Ames High School graduate and a lifelong Story County resident. She married F. H. (Bud) Taylor on June 22, 1946, in Kansas City, Kan. She was employed by Donnelley Marketing as a control clerk from 1945-1987. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, camping and her grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Charmi A. Payne of Omaha, Neb., and Rylo Mae Barker of Nevada; a son, Rick Dean Taylor of Boone; five grandchildren, Floyd M. Johnson, Jeff Johnson, Jeremy P. Barker, Melisa M. Barker, all of Nevada, and Maria E. Taylor of Boone; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Oct. 9, 1990, and brother, Richard Thompson.

Graveside services were held today (Aug. 27) at 10:30 a.m. at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery with Dr. Fred C. Danforth of First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ officiating. A memorial fund has bee established. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, handled arrangements.
