Laura M. Coon

Laura M. Coon, 64, of Nevada, died Monday, February 25, at her home.

She was born Sept. 17, 1915, at Moravia, Ia., the daughter of Walter and Jessie Goldsberry Perry. She was educated in the Centerville, Ia. schools.

On March 12, 1934, she married Vernard Lee Coon at Des Moines, and lived in Ankeny and Des Moines. She and her husband recently moved to Nevada to help care for her son-in-law, William Steward, who died Feb. 12, 1980.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Janice Steward; three granddaughters, Noelle, Linda and Laura Steward; two brothers, Lester Perry and Boyd Perry of Des Moines; and three sisters, Leona Dudley, Darlene Clemens, and Lorene Dudley, all of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at the Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada, at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, with Rev. Dave Burgett of Grace Assembly Church, East Des Moines, officiating. Burial will follow at the Nevada Cemetery.

The body will lie in state at Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada.

The family requests that memorials go to the Cancer Foundation.
