DEATHS
William Harold Behrends Sr.
Funeral services for William H. Behrends were held from the Ryan funeral home at 2 p.m. on the 3rd of April, 1969. The Rev. Robert Baker officiated.
Kim West Bader played the organ, special pieces were "Rock of Ages" and "The Old Rugged Cross."
Burial was in the Nevada Cemetery with full military tribute paid by the American Legion Post #48 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2209. The casket bearers were Harold Baker, Keith Christy, Donald Mulhern, Jack Niemand, Ronald Runge, and Richard Schaeffer.
William Harold Behrends, son of William E. and Annie Behrends was born July 16, 1916 at Buffalo Center, Iowa and departed this life March 31, 1969 at the Farm Services Co. at Nevada. William Behrends served his country from June 1942 thru October, 1945 in the U.S. Army Air Force flying combat missions over Europe. On November 14, 1942, in Chicago, Ill., he married Betty Mae Nagel. From this marriage there was born one son William H. Behrends Jr. The Behrends family spent most of their married life in Minnesota, but have lived in Nevada for the past four years.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Mae, one son, William of Wiesbaden, Germany; his parents William E. and Annie Behrends of Buffalo Center; three brothers, Fred of Buffalo Center, Henry of Buhler, Kansas, and Robert of Clarissa, Minn.; four sisters, Emma of Mt. Lake, Minn., Gretchen of Buffalo Center, Dorothy of Ormsby, Minn. and Darlene of Portland, Oregon.
