William R. Severin, 56, of Nevada, formerly of Keystone, died Monday at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines after a brief illness. He was a trooper for the Iowa State Patrol for 30 years prior to his retirement in 1983.

Survivors are his wife, Janet; three daughters, peggy Shristiansen of Iowa Falls, and Paula Atkinson and Pam Severin, both of Nevada; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Severin of Keystone; two brothers, Don of Keystone, and Richard of Decar Rapids; a sister, Carol Tharp of Marion; and four grandchildren.

Services 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Lutheran Church, Nevada. Burial: Nevada Cemetery. Visitation is today and until noon at Ryan's in Nevada.
