MORT J. COCKSHOOT

Mort J. Cockshoot, 73, a resident of Nevada, died Monday, Dec. 5, 1988 at Story County Hospital. Cause of death was a heart attack.

Mr. Cockshoot was born Jan. 19, 1915 at Wilton Junction IA to Lake and Fanny (Huddler) Cockshoot. he was married to Barbars Lund on Oct. 21, 1972 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; two sons, Bruce, of Hawaii, and Hugh of Denver CO; two daughters, Ellen and Ann Cockshoot, both of Denver CO; two stepsons, Dave Lund of Nevada and Jamie Lund of Minneapolis MN; three stepdaughters, Sue Upchurch of Zearing, Mary Lund of Alexandria MN and Patty Frese of Iowa City; five grandchildren and three brothers, Ken Cockshoot of Muscatine, Cliff Hughes of Atlanta GA and Lyle Cockshoot of Marshalltown.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Mary Beth, and one son, Neil.

Mr. Cockshoot was a lawyer by profession. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and St. Patrick's Men's Club, Lions Club, the Story County Bar Association, the C.P.J. Club; and the Nevada Masonic Lodge.

The body was cremated. A memorial mass will be held Thursday, Dec. 7, 1988 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with Pastor John Herzog presiding. The cremains were interred in the Nevada Cemetery.

A wake service was held Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Chet Ryan Mortuary, 5th St. and G Ave., is in charge of the arrangements. A memorial fund has been established.
