Stella Louise Huff

Stella Louise Huff, 79, of Nevada died Monday, October 12, 2009 at her home. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 16 at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nevada with Pastor Richard Judson officiating. Burial will follow in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Stella was born on August 24, 1930 in Laurel County, to John and Opal (Watkins) Watkins. On August 24, 1948, she married Carlis Huff in Laurel River, KY. Stella had been employed by Mary Greeley Medical Center when she retired. After her retirement, she worked at the Nevada schools. Stella was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting.

Stella is survived by her husband, Carlis Huff of Nevada; a son, John Huff of Milford, CT; 2 daughters, Sharon (Keith) Hunt of Edmore, MI and Linda (Jon) Carleton of Colo; 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; and a brother, Frank Watkins of Louisville, KY.

Stella was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather James Buford, a daughter Brenda Combs on May 14, 1988, a son Scott Alan Huff in September of 1984, a brother Wayne Watkins, and a sister Joyce Hazelwood.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15 with the family present from 5-7:00 pm at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 5th Street in Nevada.

A memorial fund has been established in Stella's name.
