Luke Davis, aged Grant Township resident died at the home of his daughter. The funeral was held at the home of his daughter Mrs Fred Skyles in Grant township, this county on Dec 30, 1911 by Rev. Harris of the Ames Christian Church. Interment was made in the Ames Cemetery. Luke was born in Boone Co, Ind. in the year 1832 and was in this 79th year at his death. He was married to Ann Stuart, who died about 6 years ago. With his wife they united with the Christian Church the same year of which he was still a member. They moved to IA by wagon and settled near Toledo in the year 1865 and from there to Story Co. in 1898, where they resided until his death. There were 12 children, one son died in infancy. Those living in Story Co are Thomas of Toledo, James W., Daniel B., Jessie, and Elwood of Story, Mrs. Mary Bidwell of Tama Co., Mrs Nor Skiles, Mrs. Maud Mattingly, Ira Davis, Miss Gertrude Davis of Story Co., and Mrs Ida Smith of Marshall Co. This was the first time the children were all together. He leaves one brother Dave Davis of Mystic, a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren to mourn his loss.
