From Nevada Journal November 12, 1953

Nevada residents were shocked this morning when the report was received that Edgar A. Fawcett had died 7:30 a.m. at the Story County, Hospital of a cerebral hemorhage following an illness of one day.

Mr. Fawcett had apparently been in his usual health and had been attending to his duties on Tuesday in the State Bank and Trust Company and had attended a meeting of the Twentieth Century club the same evening. He had also been looking after matters on his farm as usual on Tuesday.

The body is at the Ryan Funeral Home where it will remain until the time of services which will be held from the Nevada Methodist Church Saturday afternoon at 2:00 with Dr. R. M. Shipman officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery.

It is the request of the family that instead of sending flowers that contributions be made to a Memorial Fund to the Story County Hospital in Mr. Fawcett's memory.

Mr. Fawcett was born Dec. 26 1871, near Colo to Sylvanus and Hannah Fawcett. He married in Kansas City, Mo., to Naomi Thorne, Dec. 19, 1900 and had lived in Nevada for 53 years. he was a member of the Masonic Lodge of the Story County Board of Review and had served as county treasurer. He was president of the State Bank and Trust Co. this year.

Surviving are the wife, Naomi, two sons, H. T. Fawcett and Edgar Fawcett, Jr. and two daughters, Mrs. E. A. (Naomi) Letsinger, Crown Point, Ind. and Mrs. Donald (Josephine) Tope, Eugene, Oregon. He also leaves four grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Allen E. Robertson, Temple City, Calif.
