V. W. Judd Dead; Victim of Fall on Icy Paving
V. W. Judd, 88, well known farmer and local weather observer, died at Iowa sanitarium at 11:17 Monday night, from the effect of complications resulting from a broken hip, sustained in a fall upon icy pavement, late Saturday afternoon.
This being the third severe injury that Mr. Judd had suffered during the past four years and considering his advanced age, it was realized fro the state the there was little upon which to base hope for his recovery.
Funeral services for Mr. Judd will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church with his pastor, Dr. Loose, in charge. Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery.
A son-in-law, J. C. Rasmusson died at his home in Spencer on Sunday and the body ill be brought to Nevada on Wednesday for committal in the Judd lot at 1:30 by the side of his wife who died in September 1936.
Mr. Judd, who had been a resident of in or near Nevada since 1895 and of Nevada for 35 years, was a familiar figure in the city and will be missed and mourned by a wife circle of friends.
When Judd came to Nevada in 1895 he bought and located on a farm two and a half miles west and north of Nevada and there he lived until he retired and located at 803 Ninth street.
Since the death of Mrs. Judd the home had been cared for by Mrs. Drue Roberson.
