Fred Hayes Died This Morning at Home in City
Fred Hayes, 1029 G avenue, resident of Nevada for the past 44 years, who had suffered a paralytic stroke about three weeks ago, passed away this morning at 4:40 a. m.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:39 at the Nevada Methodist church with the Rev. O. E. Cooley officiating. Committal will be in in the Nevada cemetery.
During the last illness of Mr. Hayes he had been surrounded by his entire family including a brother and a sister who had come from Indiana. The son, Arlo F. Hayes, here from California last Sunday and the son Ernest Hayes of Monroe, Wis. who had been here and gone back home, will return for the funeral. The brother and sister have returned home.
Surviving Mr. Hayes are the wife and the children: Lowell H. of Denver, Colo.; Mabel, Mrs. Everett Hancher of Davenport; Arlo F. Hayes of Bellflower, Calif.; Ernest W. Hayes of Monroe, Wis.; Ruth, Mrs. Clyde Sheldon of Eldora; and Captain John A. Hayes of Great Falls, Mont.
He is also survived by one brother, Charles Hayes of Terre Haute, Ind. and two sisters, Mrs. Ola Ward of Washington, Ind. and Mrs. Julia Dyal of Oden, Ind.
Of the eight grandchildren surviving three are in service: Pfc. Tom Hayes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arlo Hayes is in Germany; Pfc. Robert Hayes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hayes, is in the Medical Corps on the Island of Leyte and Lowell, Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Hayes is in the Fire Control Department of the U. S. Navy and is on the high seas.
