Dorothy Caroline Ehm was born June 25, 1918 to John R. and Anna B. (Torsdahl) Sydnes in rural Huxley, Iowa. Dorothy married Henry Ehm on January 20, 1946 at Palestine Lutheran Church in Huxley and they were married 59 years. She graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Home Economics. Dorothy finished her teaching career at Woodward-Granger and Anita High School. Her hobbies included reading, cooking and sewing.

Dorothy passed away March 19, 2014 at Bethany Life Communities in Story City at 95 years of age.

Dorothy is survived by three sons, John (Audrey) Fairchild-Ehm, of Roseville, Minnesota, Don (Sherry) Ehm, of Ankeny and Rollie (Natalie) Ehm of Clinton; six grandchildren, Erik (Ginger), Jason, Erin (Erik), Katherine (Justin), Nikolaus and Caroline (Dean); seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Thelma Monson, of Bloomington, Minnesota, Virginia Lee, of Ames and Lavonne Clark, of Ames.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry; two sisters; and one brother.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Bethany Life Communities in Story City or Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater.
