Emmett S. Armstrong, 77, long time resident of Story county, died at the Story County hospital this morning at 6:16 after being admitted Friday evening. Death was due to heart complications.
Funeral services will be held at Central Presbyterian church, Thursday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. James Ransom officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in the Nevada cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Dixon Funeral Home until the time of service.
Mr. Armstrong was born March 28, 1875, a son of George and Julia Armstrong.
He was married Sept. 22, 1879 to Anna Fay Lockridge who passed away July 30, 1942. Former Nevada postmaster, Mr. Armstrong had served in other positions of trust, and was recognized as one of the leading citizens of the community.
He is survived by two son George of Perry and John of Ames, five daughters, Dorothy, Mrs. Howard Schultz of Nevada, Lydia, Mrs. Chev. Adams of Ames, Jean , Mrs. James Larsen of Roland, Margaret, Mrs. Wm. Crisp of Bethesda, Maryland, Miss Juliette Armstrong of Salina, Kansas. He also leaves on brother Leo Armstrong of Ames and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two son, Lloyd and Frank.
