E. B. Ayers is dead at age 87; rites Saturday, 824 8th St., Nevada, died at the Story County Hospital Wednesday* morning at the age of 87.

He had been a patient at the hospital for the past three days.

The son of William and Rachel Ayers, he was born Nov. 27, 1881 in Story County. He lived in this county his entire life and had retired from farming a few years ago.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the I.O.O.F. Lodge, and has held public office as a County Trustee.

Surviving are a son, Willard Ayers of Grundy Center; two daughters, Mrs. Lois Reed of Toledo and Mrs. Maxine Baumgardner of Nevada; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, two sisters, a son Raymond, and his wife, Nellie, who died May 2, 1968.

Funeral services will be at the Ryan Funeral Home Sturday morning at 11. The Rev. Azel Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.
