David Wayne Peter, 61, of Ames, was called home to be with his Lord on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at the Israel Family Hospice House. Funeral services for David will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Stevens Memorial Chapel, 607 28th Street, Ames with burial to follow at Squire Boone Cemetery in Boone, Iowa. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5 – 7PM at the funeral home.
The son of Delbert and Dorothy Ferkin Peter, David was born on November 29, 1952 in Boone. He graduated from Lohrville Community High School in 1971 and furthered his education at Iowa Central Community College and Iowa State University, where he studied electronics. David married Brenda McGuire in 1995 at Briggs Woods near Webster City and they were blessed with one son. He worked in the electronics field in Belmond, Ft. Dodge and Webster City and at the time of his death was employed by Power Film where he worked as a quality controller. David was a member of Bible Faith Church in Story City, and was a worship leader for Iowans for Israel and Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International. In high school, David enjoyed playing saxophone and acting in plays, and in later life, ran sound and lighting for various community events in Story City.
David is survived by his wife, Brenda Peter, of Ames; son, Daniel Peter, of Ames; brothers, Randall Peter of Boone, Louis (DeEtta) Peter of McDonough, Georgia and Christopher Peter of Boone; sister, Dorene (Ronald) Geerdes of Stanhope and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and nieces Amy and Laura Geerdes.
