Clarence E. Markland was born near Weston, Illinois, October 20, 1869, a son of Daniel E. and Ellen (Miller) Markland, natives of Ohio. He is the last of a family of six children.
Mr. Markland was for many years identified with the Chicago Joint Stock Land bank as special investigator. For the past 20 years he had been with the Wertheimer Cattle Company in South St. Paul, Minn.
Besides his farming interests around Nevada he was a stock holder and director in the State Bank and Trust company.
Mr. Markland came to Nevada in 1892. On March 16, 1893, he was united in marriage to Harriet M. Dawson. Mr. Markland passed away March 27, 1944.
He was preceded in death by one grandson and leaves to mourn his passing, his two daughters, Hazel, Mrs. Clarence Bivens and Irene, Mrs. Norman C. Dobson and one grandson, Gordon Bivens. He also leaves several nephews and nieces and a host of friends.
