Vere Padellford
May 5, 1913-Aug. 22, 1994Vere Padellford, 81, of Des Moines, died Monday of an aneurysm at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Nevada Christian Church-Disciples of Christ, with Dr. Fred C. Danforth officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
Vere Nelson was born in Nevada to Fred W. and Edna R. (Smith) Nelson. She married Clifford Padellford in Carthage, Ill., on Sept. 19, 1931. A resident of Des Moines since 1954, she had been employed as a cashier at Dahl's Food Store until her retirement in 1975. Her hobbies included painting, crocheting and knitting.
She is survived by three daughters, DeLoris Townsley and Sondra McPherson, both of Des Moines, and Mary Lou Relph of Colfax; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983, three brothers and a granddaughter.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
