Marcellus Sowers
Aug. 16, 1913-June 25, 1990Marcellus (Mugs) Sowers, 76, of Wichita, Kan., died June 25 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita of a heart ailment.
He was born in Nevada to David and Anna Eliza Sowers and married Ruth Kathleen Proctor on Oct. 29, 1939, in Nevada. He was a retired manager of the military service division of Cessna Aircraft Co. in Wichita, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of OX-5 Aviation Pioneers.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Kathleen Mawdsley, of Carterville, Ill.; and two grandchildren.
Services were held June 28 at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church in Wichita and arrangements were by DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Funeral Home in Wichita. Memorials can be made to Mount Vernon United Methodist Church.
