Orson R. Shaffer, 68, 1004 Tenth street, Nevada, died Friday afternoon* at 7:10 following a two year illness.
Funeral services will be held from teh Ryan Funeral Home Monday morning at 10:30 with the Rev. W. R. Tuttle of the Nevada Christian church officiating. Burial will be in teh Nevada cemetery.
Born May 25, 1890 at Keota; son of John and Amanda Shaffer, he had been a resident of Nevada for the past 35 years. A well known auto dealer, he had served for years on the Story County Draft Board, and had served as Nevada mayor and member of the Nevada school board.
He ws a member of the American Legion, the 40 and 8, the Story County Soldier's Relief Commission, and of the Methodist church in Swaledale.
He was married to Leota M. Huhn in Nevada, Feb. 1, 1926, who survived him. He is also survived by one son, James R. Shaffer of Cedar Rapids adn two granddaughters, Debbie and Susan Shaffer, and by one brother, H. E. Shaffer of Mason City and one sister, Mrs. Eva Hunt of Mason City.
A memorial fund is being established.
