Frank Meredith Moran (1887-1949)

Frank Meredith Moran, son of William and Margaret Murphey Moran, was born in Nevada, Iowa, May 16, 1887. His father passed away in 1893, but his mother lived until October 28, 1948.

Mr. Moran was graduated from the Nevada High school class of 1907 and later attended a business college n Des Moines. He was employed by the Nevada Reprsentative for a number of years and then worked as an abstractor for the Fitchpatrick Investment Company.

Worked for Lester Martin

He spent three years in Live Oak, Florida, where he was co-owner of an abstract firm. Upon his return to Nevada he worked as an abstractor for the Lester F. Martin Investment Company and later had his own office known as the Moran Abstract Service.

From January 1, 1937 to May 1, 1945 he served as Deputy Recorder of Story County. At that time he took over the Story County Loan and Abstract Company which business he had purchased a short time before, and of which he was the owner and manager until the time of his death.

He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and served for a time as its treasurer. He was a director of the Nevada Federal Savings and Loan Association the past several years.

Married Nov. 24

On November 24, 1948 he was united in marriage to Miss Sina Kloster, Story County Recorder, who survives him. He is also survived by a number of cousins and by his aunt, Mrs. John Moran.

Mr. Moran had not been well since last fall but had been at work right along. On Wednesday morning, May 18th two days after his and birthday he became very ill and was taken to the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames where he passed away just one week later on May 25, 1949. He had been in a coma almost all of the time in the hospital and did not regain consciousness.

His business associates and many, many other friends will miss him greatly--and will remember him for his integrity, and willingness to work.
