Former Nevada resident Mrs. Leota Shaffer died Thursday morning
A former Nevada resident, Mrs. Leota Shaffer, died Thursday morning* at the Kootenai Memorial Hospital in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho after a short illness. She was 78.
Services will be held from the Ryan Funeral Home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Marvin L. Hulse officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.
Born Sept. 29, 1897 in Rantoul, Ill.* to Daniel and Lucy Coleman* Huhn, she had been a Couer d'Alene resident for the past six years.
Survivors include on son, James H. Shaffer of Hayden Lake, Idaho; two granddaughters; three brothers, Carl Huhn of Tucson, Ariz., Loren Huhn of Nevada and Lyle Huhn of St. Petersburg, Fla., and two sisters, Mrs. Lola Huhn Tudor of Tucson, Ariz. and Mrs. Fern Williams of Nevada, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and her husband, Orson, who died in 1958.
*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Leota May (Huhn) Shaffer died on 2 September 1976. According to census, she was born in Iowa and in 1897, her family resided in Story County. Leota's mother maiden name was Lucy Kallman, not Coleman as stated.
