EDWIN BRYAN HARRELL
Edwin Bryan Harrell, 88, of 513 8th St., Nevada, died Monday, Jan 14, at 6 a.m. at the Iowa Veterans Home at Marshalltown where he had resided the past year. Death was attributed to a cerebral vascular accident.
Mr. Harrell was born June 28, 1896 in Story County to Jerome and Phoebe Ann Emily Harrell. He was married Jan 30, 1931 at New Ulm, Minn., to Cassie M. Cummer. She died Oct. 14, 1946.
Mr. Harrell was in the plumbing and heating business for 35 years and served as sexton of the Nevada Cemetery for 18 years. He retired from the plumbing and heating business in 1960.
He was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church at Nevada, and the American Legion. He had been a member of the Nevada Masonic Lodge for several years.
Mr. Harrell put in 30 years of service on the Nevada Fire Dept. He served in the US Army in World War I.
Survivors include a son, Charles E. Harrell of Nevada; a daughter, Doris Jean Nelson of Fort Worth, Tex., six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Leo and William, and two sisters, Edith Talley and Ruth Harrell.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada with Pastor Forrest Chaffee officiating. Interment will be in Nevada Cemetery. Ryan Funeral Home of anevada is in charge of arrangements.
