Dr. Lillian Purkhiser Died Friday Afternoon

Dr. Lillian Purkhiser, 81, born in Nevada May 13, 1867, a daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth Purkhiser, died yesterday afternoon at 5 p.m. at her home 2401 University avenue, Des Moines. She had been ill three weeks.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Moorfoot Funeral Home in Nevada with Rev. O. E. Cooley of the Nevada Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in the family lot of the Nevada cemetery.

Surviving the deceased are the following nephews and nieces: County Auditor M. R. Purkhiser of Nevada, Mrs. Lila Edgerly of Waverly, Mrs. Emily Wilson of Los Angeles, Calif., E. Z. Hornberger, of Omaha, Neb., Mrs. Guy Lucas and her brother Lee Halsey of Madrid, and Frank Batman of Ames.

Dr. Purkhiser was the last of her family. Her twin sister Elizabeth died Feb. 23, 1940.
