Mrs. Purkhiser, Madrid, died

Mrs. Josephine Purkhiser, 82, formerly of Nevada, died Monday morning* at the Lutheran Home, Madrid.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday from Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada, with the REv.e William Siefkes officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.

Mrs. Purkhiser was born Jan. 2, 1890, at Roland. She and Michael Raymond Purkhiser were married May 31, 1921, at Waterloo. She was a member of the Lutheran Church.

Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Betty Hemstreet, Ames; Mrs. Esther Baker, Davenport and Mrs. Patricia Reid, Livonia, Mich.; two brothers: Arthur B. Olson, Security, Colo.; two sisters, Mrs. Virgil Crain, Des Moines and Mrs. Florence Bennett, Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and a brother.
