Moves to town, dies of heart attack in 2 days
J. Guy Handsaker, who had moved into Nevada on Monday of this week after retiring from the farm, died of an apparent heart attack at his home at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday*.
Mr. Handsaker, 75, had purchased a new home at 639 17th St. recently, and moved into the house only Monday. He was a lifetime resident of Story County and prominent in agricultural business.
He was a member of the Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are one son, Ronald L. of Ames; two grandsons and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Lee and his wife, Innie, who died February 22, 1969.
Funeral services will be at the Fist Christian Church Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. William Knight and Rev. Michael Rush officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.
The body will be taken from the Ryan Funeral Home to the Handsaker residence where it will remain until noon Saturday. It will then be taken to the church to await funeral services.
A memorial fund has been established.
