Native Daughter of Nevada Dead In Des Moines Today
Miss Elizabeth Purkhiser, age about 72 years, passed away this forenoon at her home in Des Moines, according to word received by local relatives.
The body will be brought to the Morfoot Funeral home in Nevada, and funeral rites will be planned and arranged later.
Miss Purkhiser, who had been an invalid for many years, made her home in Des Moines with her twin sister, Dr. Lillian Purkhiser.
She was born in Nevada, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Purkhister and was well known here during her younger days.
She was an aunt of C. A. Batman and M. R. Purkhiser of Nevada and Miss Anna Batman of Lincoln, and of Frank Batman of Ames, besides other nephews and nieces.

Funeral Rites for Elizabeth Purkhiser Held Here Monday
Funeral services for Miss Elizabeth Purkhiser, daughter of a pioneer Nevada family who died at Des Moines early Friday, were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Morfoot Funeral home and were attended by a large group of old friends. The service was in charge of Dr. C. D. Loose of the Nevada Methodist church. The body was laid to rest in the family lot in the Nevada cemetery. Pall bearers were Jay K. Banks, Arthur W. Banks, Emmett S. Armstrong, F. G. Dunahugh, Dorr Allen and Frank M. Moran.
Miss Purkhiser, one of the twin daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Purkiser, early day residents of Nevada, grew to womanhood at the old Purhiser homestead near the corner of Fourth Street and G avenue. Of the five daughters and one son, only two are left. They are Mrs. Laura Halsey of Madrid and Dr. Lillian Purkhiser of Des Moines. Two older sisters, Mrs. James Batman and Mrs. Emily Hornburger and one brother, Allen Purkhiser, are dead.
