NEVADA SOLDIER KILLED IN ACTION

Word was received in Nevada Saturday evening of the death in action in France of Private Richard "Dick" Emerson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Emerson of Nevada.

Richard Belmont Emerson was born July 17, 1925. He was a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shalley and Mrs. Sadie Emerson of Nevada.

Dick attended the Nevada grade and high school. He was inducted into the army Oct. 7 at Camp Dodge, and had his basic training at Camp Roberts, Calif., in the infantry.

He was home in March for ten days. From here he was sent to Fort George Meade, Md., and after a week there was sent to New York for embarkation. He was stationed in England until recently, when he was sent to France, where he met death in action July 9. No particulars have been received.

Besides his parents and grandparents, he is survived by two sisters, Wilma Emerson of Ames and Deloris Emerson of Washington, D. C. Everyone feels the loss of this fine young man, who is another Story county boy to have given his life for his country.

Dick would have celebrated his nineteenth birthday anniversary on July 17.
