Irene Gertrude Klingseis was born December 25, 1918 to Warren and Amelia (Hartmann) Palmer in Charles City, Iowa. Irene received her education in the Floyd County schools and Hamilton Business College in Mason City. She had been a resident of Ames since 1938. Irene worked as a telephone operator at Northwestern Bell, a secretary at Selective Service and as a secretary for the Ames Community School District. She married Paul Klingseis on November 10, 1945 in Ames. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church.

Irene passed away September 6, 2013 at Northcrest Community in Ames at 94 years of age.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul on August 15, 1994; her brothers, Kenneth Palmer, Keith Palmer and Bernard Palmer; and her sisters, Bernice Stanley and Mary Lou Minard

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to St. Cecilia Education Center.
