Kenneth D. Wilson
June 24, 1931 - June 18, 2013

Kenneth Doyle Wilson was born June 24, 1931 to Kenneth M. and Irma D. (Olson) Wilson in Ellsworth, Iowa. His family moved to southern California in the late 1930s. They returned to Iowa in 1948. Ken attended Ellsworth High School, played on the school basketball team and graduated with the class of 1949. He followed his family back to southern California shortly afterwards. There he raised his family and worked in sales of petroleum goods. He won several awards for salesman of the year. He served in the United States Army Reserve for 16 years. He married Kathryn Thielen on June 20, 1987 in Cypress, California. They moved to Iowa in 1990.

Ken was a member of Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley. Ken loved his family and friends, his cats, March Madness basketball, his Cuffley cap, cars from the 40’s and 50’s, In-N-Out Burgers, old country-western music and Iowa.

Ken left this life to be with his heavenly father on June 18, 2013 at Taylor House in Des Moines at 81 years of age.

In addition to his wife, Kathy Wilson, of Huxley, Ken is survived by his sons, Dean Wilson and his wife Sande of Riverside, California and Dale Wilson and his wife Roxie of Bullhead City, Arizona; his sister, Kay Lanzi of Lakewood, California; his brother, Dwayne Wilson and his wife Mary Ann of Cypress, California; and many beloved nephews and nieces who will miss their Uncle Doyle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Daryl; and his beloved cat, Duffy.

Those wishing to express their sympathy’s through a memorial may direct their gift to Fjeldberg Lutheran Church or Wesley Adult Day Center.
