John E. Holland
September 16, 1921 - June 19, 2013

John Eugene Holland was born September 16, 1921 to Ole J. and Millie T. (Jacobson) Holland in Roland, Iowa. John graduated from McCallsburg High School. He married Karen Rockhill on September 1, 1957 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. John worked as a service manager for university housing at Iowa State University, retiring in 1987. He was a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church in Roland and a member of the Ames Moose Lodge. John enjoyed gardening, dancing the waltz and foxtrot and listening to music. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to those within the family.

John passed away June 19, 2013 at Bethany Manor in Story City at 91 years of age.

He is survived by his wife, Karen, of Roland, two sons, Roger (Cindy) Holland of McCallsburg and Bruce Holland of Phoenix, Arizona; two grandchildren, Tanya (Nick Sayre) Nunn and Allen Holland; and his great-granddaughter, Kali Walker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and one brother.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to Homeward Hospice or Bethany Life Communities Employee Appreciation Fund.
