Funeral services for the Rev. C.A. Gisselquist, 60, were held Monday, June 11 at 1:30 p.m. from Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Bishop Durwood Buckheim and the Revs. Alvin Rogness and Al Berg officiated.

Preceding the church service a Family Prayer Service led by Pastor Oliver Johnson, was held in the Chapel. Alter prayer and scripture reading was by pastor Rudolph Anderson. Robert Hanson was soloist and Mrs. Harold Olson was at the organ.

The Committal Service in the Story City Municipal Cemetery was donducted by pastors Rev. Rolfe S. Johnstad and Donald L. Berg. Casket bearers were Deacons of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Rev. Clement A. Gisselquist was born November 22, 1918 at Elmore, Minnesota, to Rev. John and Ida Gisselquist. His early years were spent at Centerville, S.D. where he attended both grade school and high school. He attended the Lutheran Bible School in Fergus Falls, Minn. for one year prior to receiving his higher education at Augsburg College, Minneapolis, Minn., where he graduated in 1941 and 1944.

On June 9, 1944 he was united in marriage to Borghild Stenoien of Mayville, North Dakota. To this union were born three sons and two daughters, Rebecca (Mrs. Ronald Lien), James, Martha (Mrs. Conrad Peterson), John, Joel and Miriam. There are five grandchildren: Jana, Joshua, Eric, Krysta, and Karyn.

Pastor Gisselquist was ordained June 4, 1944. He served pastorates at Bottineau, North Dakota (1944-47), Jasper, Minnesota (1947-53), Sioux City, Iowa (1958-88), and Story City, Iowa (1968-79).

He often spoke of his ministry in terms of being a servant of the congregation and in this spirit he lived and worked among us. He had wide interests as evidenced by hobbies, books, music, travels, contacts and his children's activities, and involvement in community and church activities beyond the congregation.

For fifteen years he was chairman of the board of the World Mission Prayer League. These interests helped him stay in touch with people and the world in shich he bore his witness to the Gospel.

He often spoke of his love and high regard for the people of Immanuel congregation. Though his service was shortened by his death, it was where he wanted to end his ministry. He died at his home on June 6, 1979.
