Minnie Quam
Minnie Quam, 94, Story City, Iowa died of cancer Friday, Feb. 21, 2003 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City with the Revs. Stephen Anenson and John Engelstad officiating. Burial was at Story City Cemetery.
Minnie Quam was born September 29, 1908 in Hamilton County to Goddman and Mary Olson. On Dec. 28, 1930 she was united in marriage with Truman Quam. She farmed with her husband in the Stanhope and Story City area until 1986 when she moved to Story City.
Minnie was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City and of Praise Circle. her life included activities in her church, both in Story City and the Stanhope area. She accompnied her husband when he sang in church or various musical functions. Minnie also bowled with a team and was active in various community functions.
Survivors include two sons, Gordon (Laura) Quam of Boone and Nolan Quam of Des Moines; granddaughter, Debra (Joe) Martino of Sea Cliff, New York; grandson, Dennis (Christine) Quam of rural Boone; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Truman in 1986, an infant sister and her brother, Melford Olson.
Memorial may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
