Geneva C. Steensland
Geneva Steensland, 90, of Story City, died of congestive heart failure Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001 at Bethany Manor. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City with Rev. Thomas Reuss officiating. Burial was in the Story City Cemetery.
Geneva C. Steensland was born Dec. 23, 1910 in Kelley, Iowa, the daughter of John Martin and Carrie Christina (Anderson) Hill. She graduated from Huxley High School and Waldorf College. She lived in Huxley and taught country school near Huxley until her marriage to Ernest A. Steensland on April 18, 1942. They lived in Roland and Geneva was a homemaker. They moved to Story City in 1976. She was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church and Sons of Norway in Story City.
She is survived by two daughters, Judith Steensland of Fort Dodge and Sharon Huth of Huxley; two grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Nov. 22, 1982; a brother; two sisters; and a great-grandchild.
