MRS. GUS ISAKSON
Ida Lund Isakson, dauter of the late Mr. and Mrs. B. K. Lund, was born Oct. 2, 1898 on a farm near Stanhope, and passed away Monday, March 5, 1956 at Augustana Hospital, Chicago, after a prolonged illness.
Mrs. Isakson was baptized and confirmed in St. Petri Lutheran church, northwest of Story City, in which vicinity she lived until 1919 when she moved to Story City with her parents.
She attended public school at Story City and later at Waldorff college, Forest City.
April 23, 1931 she ws united in marriage to Gustave E. Isakson at "Our Savior's Lutheran church at Logan Square, Chicago, the late Pastor George T. Rygh officiating.
Funeral services were held for her at the Linn Funeral home in Chicago, Tuesday evening at 7:45, at which service the Pastor H. Habig presided and preached a comforting message, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "The Lord's Prayer" were sung at this service.
Mrs. Isakson had lived in Chicago the past 39 years and she and her husband were members of Holy Trinity Lutheran.
Ida had a generous loving personality, and opened her heart to all with whom she came in personal touch. She will be missed by a host of friends and relatives in Story City and Chicago.
Her remains were brought to her home community by her husband, Gus Isakson, Wednesday, March 7.
Funeral services were held at Immanuel Lutheran church, Story City, Friday, March 9. Truman Quam and Mrs. Benj. Anderson sang two duets "The Old Rugged Cross" and "It Was for Me." The Rev. T. J. Alvestad officiated at the service, taking as his text, 1 Thes. 4:13-18. Before going to the hospital, Ida had marked this portion of the scriptures under scoring doubly the last verse which reads: 'Wherefore comfort one another with these words." From these words the pastor brought a beautiful message of consolation. Pastor David Halbakken of Volga, South Dakota also brought a message comfort at the service.
She leaves to mourn her departure, her beloved husband, Gustave E. Isakson; a brother, Lawrence B. Lund and a sister, Mabel, Mrs. A. M. Marvick, both of Story City, and a foster sister, Mrs. Alice Tietgen of Minneapolis.
Pallbearers were friends of the departed, Elmer J. Fardal, Elmer H. Fardal, Helmer Satre, Benjamin Anderson, Otis Quam, James Quam. Interment was in Story City Municipal cemetery.
