TWO PIONEERS LAID TO REST

RASMUS RASMUSSEN AND MRS. MARTHA GRONSTAD, OCTOGENARIANS, LAID TO REST

Two of the oldest citizens of this community have passed away and have been taken to their last resting place, Rasmus Rasmusson, who died at the age of 81 years, and Mrs. Martha Gronstad, who reached over 88 years.

Mrs. Gronstad died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lars Halverson, Friday, June 11, after an illness of about three months. She was born in 1837 and was over 88 years old at the time of her death.

The funeral was held Monday at Salem church, Rev. Lars J. Skromme conducting the service. The body was laid to rest in the Roland cemetery beside her late husband.

Among those from a distance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Halverson and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Halverson of Belmond, Mr. and Mrs. Simon Ritland and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Overland of Zearing, Mrs. Thor Thorson, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Thorson, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. Henning Helgeson of Radcliffe, and Mr. and Mrs. Silas Skartvedt of Garden City.
