Obituary

LARS M. CHELLEY

Funeral services for Lars M. Chelley, 90, Story City were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, in the chapel Story City Sunset home.

Burial was in the Story City municipal cemetery the Rev. Olaf Holen officiating. Henry Thorsbakken, Arthur Hovick, John Hovick, Lloy Hanson, Porter Thompson and John C. Olson were pallbearers.

Lars M. Chelley was born in Skaanevik, Norway, Dec 11, 1870 and died at the Story City sunset home Dec. 17.

His parents were Magnus and Inger Tjelle. He came to the United States to farm when 19. In 1924, he made Story City his home. During the last 12 years he resided at the Sunset home.

He married Siri Gronstad in 1894. She died in 1898. In 1900, he married her sister Kari Gronstad. She died in 1944.

Three sons and one daughter, four brothers and on sister preceded him in death. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Carrie Thorsbakken, and one granddaughter, Mrs. Bill Beech, both of Ames.

Also surviving is a sister, Margaret Tjelle of Chicago, Ill. and two sisters in Norway.
