Jodi McBride Cortez
September 13, 1953 - January 22, 2013Jodi Louise McBride Cortez, 59, of West Des Moines, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Jodi was born September 13, 1953, in Camp Polk, Louisiana, to John and Shirley (Riekena) McBride. She graduated from Maxwell High School in 1971. Jodi was active in 4-H, school activities and the Maxwell United Methodist Church. She attended Drake University, majoring in art and AIB majoring in accounting. Jodi’s greatest loves were her family, friends, traveling and reading.
Jodi is survived by her daughters, Carrie (Shahryar) Rehman of New York, Christina Cortez of Minnesota and Calley (Brad Cox) Cortez of Des Moines; her mother, Shirley McBride of Maxwell; her sisters, Jaynee (Edgar) Christian of Story City and Julie (Jeff) Carstens of Bondurant; her grandchildren, Christopher Cortez, Shantell Cortez, Roekara Cortez, Brantley Cox, Nailah Cortez, Caitlyn Cox, Isabella Rehman, Aiden Rehman and Quentin Cortez; along with several other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, John E. McBride; her brother, John R. McBride; her maternal grandparents, Jake and Helen Riekena; her paternal grandparents, Russell and Louise McBride; her nephew, Andrew Christian, and cousins, Terry Stratton and Robbie Halterman; along with several aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2013, at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell, 422 First Street, with funeral services 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at the Maxwell United Methodist Church, 501 Second Street. Jodi will be laid to rest in the Woodland Cemetery in Iowa Center.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Jodi.
