Roger Daryl Mullin
August 9, 1946 - December 31, 2012

Roger D. Mullin age 66, of Huxley died December 31, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. A gathering of friends and family will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care 414 Lincoln Way with a 11:00 a.m. Friday, Jan 4, Celebration of Life Memorial Service at First United Methodist Church in Ames.

Roger was born August 9, 1946 to Armour and Arlene Mullin in Algona, Iowa. The family lived in Kanawha until 1955 when they moved to Ames. He graduated from Ames High School in 1965. In July Roger enlisted in the US Air Force and was trained as a weather observer. Roger was stationed in Grand Forks, ND, Pleiku Vietnam and Big Spring, Texas. He married his high school sweetheart Charlene McMillen on Nov. 8, 1966 three weeks before leaving for Vietnam. The couple made their home in Ames where he was employed by General Filter Company as a welder and draftsman; he then joined his brother in law in the family owned Sigler Printing Business where he worked for 17 years, before joining Char at Char's BP and convenience store where he worked until his retirement in 2009. Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and boating with friends and family. He looked forward to the family vacations at Table Rock Lake where he spent his time boating and water skiing. He and Char enjoyed their travel to Alaska to celebrate their 40th anniversary. Roger could always remember your name and send you on your way with a joke.

Roger will be missed by his wife Charlene Mullin of 46 years, his son Wade (Stephanie) Mullin and his grandchildren: Christina, Catelin and Wyatt: sisters, Maxine (Marwin) Bogue of Lake Shore, Minn: Dee Mullin (Steve Stillwell) of Wichita, Kansas: and a brother Don (Gladys Hiett) Mullin of Helena, Montana: brother-in-law Ron McMillen of Ames, nieces, nephews and friends.
