Capt. Donald Nibe Killed In Action
Capt. Donald Nibe, former Story City Resident, has been killed in action with the field artillery, according to word received by his Story City relatives.
Survivors are Mrs. Christine Nibe, his mother formerly of Story City and three brothers, Harlen of Story City, Arnold of Newton, and Helmer now in service. Other relatives include Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Nibe and Mr. and Mrs. George Nibe, all of Story City.
Capt. Nibe, a graduate of Iowa State college, had been in service for two years.
June 22, 1944
Word came early the morning of Wednesday, June 14, that Capt. Donald Nibe, 30 years-old son of Mrs. Christine Nibe, had been killed in action in Italy. No other facts are known. Capt. Nibe enlisted at Boone, starting out as a private and being rapidly promoted to the captaincy of his company. He was married to Dorothy Fisher of Eagle Grove in the fall of 1942. His mother has a position with Iowa State College at Ames. He has two brothers in the service.

Memorial services were conducted last Sunday in connection with the morning worship period at Grace Church in Story City for Captain Donald Nibe, son of Mrs. Christine Nibe. Captain Nibe's death was reported two weeks ago having occurred in battle in Italy.
